2013 Acura NSX Review

Acura NSX fans will never forget the month of December in 2005. The last NSX bound for the North American market was built then and enthusiasts have been mourning the loss of Honda’s first supercar ever since. Well now they can stop mourning, because a new-generation NSX with a powerful hybrid powertrain is coming to the U.S.
Recently, Acura invited a select group of journalists out to its dealer meeting in Las Vegas for a taste of things to come. Along with the new ILX sedan and RDX crossover, we laid eyes on the shapely NSX concept on display at the 2012 Detroit show — and, better yet, received word that it previews an actual production car that is expected to be built right here in the USA and should be here in three year’s time.
That immense lull between NSX models wasn’t exactly intentional. Honda had been working on crafting a flagship sports car for quite a while, but what once seemed like a clear-cut plan quickly became tumultuous.
Let’s recap: although the first-generation NSX ceased to be in 2005, Honda first started hinting at a successor back in 2003, when it began showing the HSC on the global auto show circuit. Two years later, while confirming demise of the original car, the company announced efforts to develop a successor “had intensified.”
True to its word, a concept foreshadowing such a vehicle emerged in early 2007. The Advanced Sports Car Concept, which debuted at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, was said to hint at a new premium sports car, but many enthusiasts had trouble calling it the NSX. The reluctance was understandable, as the formula Honda was pursuing was a far cry from what we’d seen before. The ASCC eschewed a V-6 for a ten-cylinder engine, and also adopted a front engine layout and an all-wheel-drive system.
Spy photographers subsequently caught prototypes testing on public roads, but the project wouldn’t last for long. In 2008, an unstable automotive market and questionable global economic stability led Honda to reconsider its priorities — not surprisingly, an expensive top-tier sports car wasn’t exactly one of them. Although the development of a road car was canceled, the front-engine NSX project served as the basis of Honda’s HSV-010 GT race car for the Japanese Super GT project.
Hope blossomed once again in early 2011, when Takanobu Ito, CEO of the Honda Motor Company and a former engineer on the original NSX project, confirmed his company was once again working on a new NSX.
This latest approach shares virtually nothing with the company’s last stab at an NSX successor. Previous ideas, notably those that called for a ten-cylinder engine to be placed ahead of the passenger compartment, have been discarded in favor of an approach officials believe is much more in line with Acura’s brand identity.
As was the case with the original, the new NSX places its engine smack in the middle of its chassis. That engine will likely be a V-6, but that’s where the similarities with the original car end. As was the case nearly two decades ago, Honda engineers view the car as a halo vehicle, one ideal for showcasing its engineering prowess and its latest and greatest technologies.
Subsequently, the NSX will utilize a form of the new hybrid Super Handling-AWD (SH-AWD) system. The V-6, likely a 3.5- or 3.7-liter, will drive the rear wheels by means of a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Unlike the current SH-AWD system, which would send power to the front wheels by way of a driveshaft and a mechanical differential, the NSX’s front wheels will instead be powered by a pair of electric motors. As each motor is assigned to a wheel, the system has the ability to accelerate the outer wheel in a corner, creating a yaw moment that improves the car’s ability to turn in and rotate. All told, the system could produce a net punch of about 400 hp.
Of course, packaging that sort of technology in a plain wrapper wouldn’t suffice for a halo car. Love it or hate it, the new NSX’s sheetmetal will certainly turn heads. Despite borrowing the Audi R8′s general proportions and stance — i.e. wide track, cabin pushed close to the front axle, etc. — the car has a visual identity all its own.
Acura’s edgy design language takes center stage, but the beleaguered “beak” grille — long a complaint of previous Acura designs — is thankfully nowhere to be found. Thin LED headlamps give way to a panel that dominates the upper half of the grille. The car’s side panels are relatively clean and unspoiled, interrupted only by a rather dramatic light kicker above the rocker panels and a character line that neatly folds into a pair of buttresses that wisp away from the roofline itself. A thin line of LEDs wraps itself into the rear fenders, runs the entire width of the rear fascia, and effectively serves as both brake lights and a center-mounted stop lamp. The display model we were shown lacked a full interior, but appeared to boast a waterfall instrument panel that evolved the twin cockpit theme used in the original NSX.
Although Acura’s only showing the car in coupe form at this point, there are rumblings of a convertible variant, fueled in part by the appearance of a similar-looking roadster on the set of the forthcoming Avengers super hero movie. If approved for production, expect that car to differ only in terms of its decklid, rear fenders, and side character line.
It’s still unclear if the NSX will utilize its own architecture, or perhaps share its platform with another vehicle. It is, however, fairly certain to enter production. Officials tell us the development program is still in its infancy, but the car could enter series production as early as 2015.

Launch of the 2013 Acura NSX Price was still unclear and when it would be utilize its own architecture, or maybe share a platform with the other car. However, this car confident enough to go into production. This car has been invites journalists to a meeting of the choice of this agent in Las Vegas for taste of anything to coming, along with new ILX sedan and the crossover RDX; we laid eyes on the new Acura NSX concept beautifully displayed here.
And it was better to receive news which the preview of actual production car. That is big lull between the car are not exactly accidental. The Honda car manufacturer has been worked on design of the flagship sports vehicle craft long enough however what once seemed like the clear plan quickly become turbulent.

As each motor assigned to the wheel, car system has capability to accelerating outer wheel in the corner, creating yaw moment to improve 2012 NSX capability to turn and twist; system can produce about 400 horsepower clean punches. Of course, for such a little package of the technology in plain packs would not be enough for a car circle.
The Acura that has been struggled against rivals in the sale of luxury brands Mercedes and the BMW, who has been plans to use the NSX next generation. Many rumors said that the new 2013 Acura NSX Price of around $ 33,000 until $ 34,000, just like the rumours about 2012 Acura NSX price. However though we could be expect them to become directed toward balance between car efficiency, the fuel economy and also the power, the details about power of machine, the new 2013 Acura NSX Price and electric motor hasn’t been released yet.

Consumer Guide's Impressions of the 2011 Acura NSX
Updated 12.17.2008
Honda Motor Company, as a result of the global economic downturn, projected lower profits through March 2009. The slowdown of auto sales and the strength of the yen versus the dollar have decreased profit margins to the point that Honda has scaled back some of its programs, and halted development of a production version of the 2011 Acura NSX.
It's still on the drawing board, but a new performance flagship is coming to Honda's premium brand--or so gossips say. Some see a concept dream come true: an edgy-cool sports-luxury coupe with all-wheel drive and a potent front-mounted V10.
What We Know About the 2011 Acura NSX
Rumors of a "next" Acura NSX sports car were swirling well before the well-liked original bowed out with model-year 2005, and the buzz only got louder when the Acura Advanced Sports Car Concept (ASCC) appeared at the 2007 Detroit Auto Show. Though parent Honda is known to be working on a new performance flagship, trade journal Automotive News quotes company insiders as saying the project is still at an early stage and has no firm timetable yet. Even so, many industry gossips are predicting a 2011 Acura NSX patterned on the zoomy ASCC.
They could be right, though we can think of reasons why not. First, the Advanced Sports Car Concept was built mainly to trumpet Acura's recently opened design center in Pasadena, California. Honda wants its premium brand to have a distinct visual identity, hence the separate studios and talent demos like the ASCC and the weird Advanced Sports Sedan Concept before it. While Acura says the ASCC design assumes a front-mounted V10 engine and all-wheel drive, the concept was only a "pushmobile" with no running gear, so a production model could end up being entirely different. Indeed, despite the "Sports Car" moniker, the concept's size, shape and stance suggest a high-speed luxury coupe, not a driving-focused machine like the original NSX with its lightweight aluminum spaceframe, revvy midships V6 and Chevrolet Corvette. On the other hand, racy newcomers from two homeland rivals--the just-released 2008 Nissan GT-R and Toyota's high-power 2009 Lexus sports coupe--are doubtless goading Honda to respond. Honda may find it easy being green, but it still wants to be seen as a performance power second to none.
There's also the question of whether Honda would take the trouble of building the Advanced Sports Car Concept and then do nothing with it. Sure, most concept designs go no further than an auto-show turntable, but Honda isn't known for indulging in dead-end ego trips.
After considering all this, we think the rumor mill is right after all, though we won't be surprised if it isn't. After all, the original NSX was quite an unexpected turn back in 1990. Then again, an Acura press release calls the ASCC a "preview of the design direction" for an NSX replacement. Coin toss, anyone?

2011 Acura NSX Features

Assuming the project does go ahead with the ASCC as the template, the 2011 Acura NSX would be about the same size as a Jaguar XK and a bit larger than today's C6 Corvette. Styling would reprise the concept's classic long-hood/short-deck proportions, wedgy profile, and a mix of curves and creases that Acura touts as "technical, machined surfaces." The concept's muscular fender bulges snug close to 19-inch wheels in front and 20s in back, and these, too, could carry over to production.Still, planners are undecided on many issues, so the 2011 Acura NSX could conceivably arrive with rear-wheel drive rather than the ASCC's putative Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive. The rumored 500-horse 4.5-liter V10 isn't locked-in either. A similar-size V8, a twin-turbocharged V6 or even a high-power hybrid system are just as likely, and would likely raise fewer howls from environmentalists. The final choice will hinge in part on plans for a CO2 emissions cap in the European Union and the likelihood of much-higher fuel-economy standards here in the U.S.

Like the mid-engine original, the 2011 Acura NSX should be another Honda engineering showcase. Some sources forecast a new Honda-designed double-clutch automated manual transmission with steering-wheel shift paddles, and we can't rule out exotica like carbon-ceramic brakes (as on the ASCC) or a collision-avoidance system. The cockpit should be another blend of sports-car function and luxury-sedan appointments, so look for multi-adjustable sports seats, lots of leather accented by aluminum and/or carbon fiber, and a navigation system with rear-view camera, the last almost essential with the high, nearly flat rear window. High-tech LED lighting, both front and rear, should be standard too.
NSX originally stood for "New Sportscar Xperimental." While the new one certainly fits that description, we think it will get a different name, if only to signal a complete break with the past. As we said, it's probably going to be a posh long-distance gran turismo, not a cornering-fool sports car. But whatever it's called and whatever the final specifications, Acura's new performance icon should be a "practical exotic" and a very special drive, just like the original.
A Notable Feature of the 2011 Acura NSX
The 2011 Acura NSX is likely to borrow one racing-inspired element of the Advanced Sports Car Concept. Acura describes it as a "carbon fiber underbody" with "integrated rear diffusers..." We're not sure if the former is structural or just a bolt-on "belly pan," but it's apparently intended to reduce air drag as an aid to high-speed stability. So are the "diffusers," a trio of fins designed to channel air more off and away from the underside. The ASCC also boasted an all-glass roof, but we can't see it on the production model, as it raises the center of gravity--not good for handling--and would doubtless be expensive to produce.

Acura NSX

Acura NSX is a well engineered car. The first thing I noticed about this car is the comfort that we get while driving. I’m pretty sure that people behind this car has spend much time in designing such a cool car. Why should anyone rent Acura NSX? It’s because we get the comfort that we are looking for in a car. Besides that, the overall look of this car from any angle is better than most of the other cars that we could rent for the same price. Acura NSX is designed by the same folks who are behind the Formula one cars.
Well, I didn’t felt like it was noisy. It might be due to the reason that engines are built a bit far from our ears. My old car is too noisy, so I know well how it feels to drive in a noisy car. Full marks to Acura NSX in this regard. Well, I am really impressed with the factory alarm of Acura NSX. It was damn accurate and working perfect all time. I like to drive in Automatic mode. For those folks who like to do everything manually you can get one with 5 speed manual transmission as well.

If you are one of those who are planning to rent a car for driving in Las Vegas, Nevada, I would suggest Acura NSX. That’s because I have tried it along the twisty roads of Las Vegas, and was pretty impressed with my Acura NSX. This was the first time I ever drove a car that fastest in my life. Well, even then it was nowhere near the speed limits imposed by Acura NSX. Well, I am not one of those who have the courage to drive in the highest of the speeds. I would be scared to do so. I think I have taken the right decision by renting Acura NSX for spending my time at Las Vegas. I was at Las Vegas, Nevada for just a weeks time, and I really enjoyed my stay there with the Acura NSX.
