General Motors recently said that it will bring more than 20 new and upgraded models to China in the next two years.
Dan Akerson, the US automaker's chairman, made the announcement during his first visit to China last week. He said the company will strengthen local product development, expand sharing of technology with local partners and take the lead in introducing new energy vehicles, including the Chevrolet Volt extended-range electric car.
GM now has 11 auto-related joint ventures with SAIC Motor Corp and FAW Group. It sold 2.35 million vehicles in China, up 29 percent over 2009.
