Bentley releases the first official images of the Continental GT 4.0 V8 engine equipped with twin-turbo direct-injection, immediately available for GTC: both will be presented at the Detroit Motor Show. The new engine, capable of an output of 500 hp and maximum torque of 650 Nm between 1700 and 5500 rpm, turns out to be 40% more fuel efficient than 12-cylinder unit, which will continue to be produced and to stand at the top of the line performance and exclusivity.
The elegant Coupe stands out from the English version of W12 for drainage design specific radiator grille with chrome edging and gloss black alloy wheels, 6-spoke design, exclusive of modelloV8 and available in sizes of 20 “and 21″. Extensive customization options for the interior and the colors of carriozzeria.
Built side by side with audio engineers, the V8 engine is equipped with the system automatically shuts off 4 cylinders when driving conditions permit: this allows to moderate significantly the fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. The 4.0 is associated with an 8-speed automatic transmission and permanent four wheel drive.
Bentley has not yet specified the official data on performance and fuel economy. He still speaks of a 0-100 km / h covered in less than 5 seconds and a top speed close to 290 km / h. Average fuel consumption and emissions should be equal respectively to 10.6 km / l and 265 g / km. Sales will start in January: price estimated at around 140,000 euros.
