The Toyota Tundra is a full-size pickup truck introduced by Toyota in the year 2000. It was widely considered to be the first full-size import-brand truck built with an American look and feel and a refined V8 engine. The Tundra was eventually nominated for the North American Truck of the Year award and was Motor Trend magazine's Truck of the Year in 2000 and 2008. Currently the Tundra is assembled in San Antonio, Texas, where production was consolidated in 2008.
The first generation Tundra had many similarities with the older Toyota T100 and the compact Toyota Tacoma. The biggest of those similarities was the shared use of a 3.4-liter V6 engine which was the top of the line engine in both the Tacoma and T100. The V6 engine would serve as the base engine for the Tundra, while a second powerplant, a first for a Toyota truck, a V8 engine sized at 4.7-liters was added to the lineup.
Publicly introduced in May 1999 as a 2000 model, the Tundra prototypes and "show trucks" were initially known as T150s. However, Ford and automotive pundits felt that this name was too close to the market-leader Ford F-150, and following a lawsuit by Ford, the production truck was renamed the Tundra (Toyota claimed they never truly intended to use the T150 name in actual production). Toyota then countersued Ford regarding the name of their then-released Lincoln LS sedan, arguing it was too close to that of the Lexus LS.
The Tundra was slightly larger than the T100, but still suffered the perception of being too small and carlike to pose a serious threat to the domestic pickup trucks. With a production capacity of 120,000, sales were double the rate of the T100. At the time the Tundra also had the largest initial vehicle sales for Toyota in its history. It garnered impressive honors, including Motor Trend's Truck of the Year award for 2000 and Best Full- Size Truck from Consumer Reports. Built in a new Toyota plant in Princeton, Indiana, with 65 percent domestic content, the Tundra showed that Toyota was serious about closing the gap on the "Big Three" in all major segments.
Engine choices available in the Tundra were a 24V 3.4-liter V6 engine that produced 190 horsepower (140 kW) and 220 lb·ft (298 N·m) of torque and an LEV certified 32 valve 4.7-liter "i-Force" V8 engine that produced 245 horsepower (183 kW) and 315 lb·ft (427 N·m) of torque. A Toyota Racing Development (TRD) supercharger was already available for the 3.4-liter V6 (2000-2003 models) that bumped horsepower to the 260 horsepower (190 kW) range and 260 lb·ft (350 N·m) of torque. TRD introduced a second supercharger for the V8 (2000-2003 models) engine late into its second year of production that pushed the V8 numbers to the mid 300 horsepower (220 kW) range and torque to the 400 lb·ft (540 N·m) range. Although the V6 supercharger is still widely available, the V8 supercharger is rarer and harder to find because TRD stopped its production once Toyota released the updated VVT-i equipped 4.7-liter engine.
The grille was updated for 2003 and the Double Cab version was added to the lineup in 2004. The Double Cab model was a true crew cab with four normal doors, with interior and exterior details copied from the Toyota Sequoia. Its bed is nearly 5 inches (130 mm) longer than the competing Nissan Titan or Ford F-150. It is also 13 inches (330 mm) longer and 3 inches (76 mm) taller than the Regular and Access cab versions. A new engine was introduced in 2005: a 4.0-liter V6 rated at 236 horsepower (176 kW) and 266 ft·lbf (361 N·m) of torque, and the existing 4.7-liter V8 was updated with Toyota's VVT-i variable valve timing technology and was rated at 282 horsepower (210 kW) and 325 ft·lbf (441 N·m) of torque while the 2006 versions were rerated at 271 horsepower (202 kW) and 313 ft·lbf (424 N·m) of torque . The 5-speed manual gave way to a 6-speed manual, and a 5-speed automatic replaced the 4-speed. With a towing capacity of just 6,900 lb (on the Double Cabs) and a 7,100 pounds towing capacity on the Access Cabs and Regular Cabs with a V8 engine, it still did not have enough muscle to compete with the heavy-duty offerings of the Big Three and Nissan. Domestic truck aficionados still derided it as a "7/8 scale" pickup.
In 2006 the Darrell Waltrip Edition was sold honoring the NASCAR star and his participation in the NASCAR Truck Series. Only 2000 V8 powered Double Cab models were produced. The package included special badging and unique 18" wheels.
The IIHS rated the Tundra "Good" overall in their frontal offset crash test. It was the first full-size pickup awarded a "Good" score, it's then competitors from Ford and Dodge were rated "Poor" and in the case of GM's entry "Marginal"
A larger Tundra was introduced at the 2006 Chicago Auto Show. It had lifted cues of its smaller brother the Toyota Tacoma along with some cues from the Toyota FTX concept truck. One unique styling element used fenders that bulged to resemble a biceps muscle. The truck had many enhancements, such as a towing capacity of up to 10,000+ lb, a payload capacity of over 2,000 lb (910 kg), a new 5.7-liter 3UR-FE V8 engine mated to a new 6-speed automatic transmission. The second generation Tundra has 3 engines available. The new 5.7-liter V8 that produces 381 horsepower (284 kW) and 401 pound-feet (544 N·m) of torque, and the carry over 4.7-liter 2UZ-FE V8 rated at 276 horsepower (206 kW) and 313 pound-feet (424 N·m) of torque, as well as the previous 4.0-liter 1GR-FE V6 rated at 236 horsepower (176 kW) and 266 pound-feet (361 N·m) of torque.
When the new Tundra first came out in February 2007 it was available in 31 configurations, which consisted of 3 bed lengths, 3 cab configurations, 4 wheel-bases, and 2 transmissions The new Double Cab replaces the previous generations Access Cab, and the all new Crew Max replaces the previous generations Double Cab, it is also built to compete with the Dodge Ram Mega Cab. The Double Cab is available with a 6.5-foot (2.0 m) bed, regular bed, or an 8-foot (2.4 m) long bed, while the Crew Max is only available with a 5.5-foot (1.7 m) short bed. The Tundra also features a new 6-speed automatic transmission which can lockup the torque converter in 5th and 6th gears with a manual shift mode which is standard with the 5.7-liter, and gives it a 0-60 time of 6.3 seconds, and a quarter mile time of 14.7 seconds.

Safety recalls
During late 2009 Toyota issued a recall on 2000-2003 model year Tundras regarding rust problems of a rear crossmember. This recall involved 110,000 vehicles and followed a similar action for the Tacoma. Following the Tacoma voluntary recall Tundra owners began complaining of rust issues prompting the NHTSA to begin investigation. Within days Toyota recalled the Tundra. If no rust is detected an anti-corrosion compound will be applied, if rust is detected the crossmember will be replaced. While Toyota originally limited the recall to 20 cold-weather states, problems were already evident elsewhere. In March 2010, the recall was expanded throughout the country.Second generation (2007–present)

However, the first-generation Toyota Tundra ultimately found more of an audience with recreational pickup buyers than with hard-core users. Not quite full-size in dimensions or work capacity, the Tundra appealed to those seeking an easy-to-drive commuter or utility vehicle capable of handling weekend trips to the local home improvement center. Independent contractors, or those with heavy trailers or boats to pull, were put off by the original Tundra’s limited body configurations, smaller size and lower tow ratings.
A redesigned Tundra pickup has arrived, however, and with it Toyota hopes this truck will finally attract serious pickup truck buyers. An American-built half-ton truck with true full-size proportions, the second-generation Tundra features three cab sizes, three bed lengths and a choice of three engines. In every measure, the Toyota Tundra now stands on equal or higher ground than competing half-ton pickups.

Rolls-Royce Boosting Growth In India-Reviews
India is the second fastest growing Asian market for Rolls-Royce, and as the company gears up to further capitalize on the buying potential of Indians, Vikram Gour takes a look at Rolls-Royce's Indian agenda with some quirks thrown in!
Rolls-Royce and India have a history that go hand in hand. Going back to the days of the Maharajas, in all their opulence, the one car that each of them sought was a bespoke Rolls-Royce. Each Maharaja had their car crafted as per individual specifications and some of the most exorbitant cars in the world were Maharaja owned Rolls-Royce coaches. From being done up in fine textiles to fitments of jewels in the interior cabin, Rolls-Royce was able to hand craft each car to suit its master’s tastes, style and match their perfection. That was then.
As the modern history of India unraveled, the story of Rolls-Royce and India found its way into books and in the hands of a few collectors who managed to procure some of these esteemed beauties on wheels. When the company made its way back to Indian shores a couple of years ago, it was time to rekindle an old flame and usher in a new era of Rolls-Royce on Indian soil. Luckily nothing much has changed!
Today's buyer isn't a Maharaja, but the new elite of India, however the tastes remain the same. According to Rolls-Royce CEO Torsten Muller-Otvos, just about every Rolls-Royce car sold in India has been heavily customized. In fact in 2010, where the company recorded a sale of 80 cars in India (a 600 per cent growth over 2009), the bespoke program actually ran out of materials for the market due to the heavy demand! The company claims that they could have sold at least 10 more cars had their bespoke program at Goodwood been properly stocked for the demand.
In 2011, Rolls-Royce is looking at selling over 100 units in India. In India, the company is looking at adding two new dealerships, namely, one in the Punjab area and the other down south either in Hyderabad or Chennai. As far as the bespoke program at Goodwood is considered, Rolls-Royce has put a lot of pressure on the department and has also increased capacity in order to capitalize on the growing bespoke vehicle demand from India.
Just like the Maharajas of an era bygone, the customers today are highly demanding. They are well aware of materials and want their cars to portray their persona. The choice of wood, textile, embroideries and leather are major choice factors. Further to this is the customization for lavish accessories that include bar cabinets and fridges on board the vehicle. With India's growing wealth crowd, Rolls-Royce insists on being on board to cater to the highest of demands.
Unlike other car manufacturers, Rolls-Royce isn't about volumes but exclusivity. India has proved to be an important market for the company over the years and with sales expected to soar over the next few years. Indian customers have proved to be very demanding and the company has taken this very seriously in shaping their own future. With new markets to tap within India, Rolls-Royce is bullish about the scope available and will be following the market trends in India very carefully.

The Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class is a mid-size rear-wheel drive coupé/convertible. While it was based on the W202 and W203 platforms of the C-Class, its styling cues, engine, and price range are closer to that of the E-Class, with Mercedes-Benz slotting the CLK as a coupé version of the W210 and W211 E-Class sedan/wagon. The CLK succeeded the W124 E-Class Coupe and it was in turn replaced by the W212 E-class Coup.

Felipe Massa topped the timesheets on the last day of Barcelona testing this week, as Ferrari found pace over Red Bull. The team were running a heavy day with Massa completing over 120 laps, and they revealed some of their intended plans via Twitter this morning.
Today's programme includes tyre comparison and set-up changes. The weather is fine with clear skies. Temperatures are still a bit cold.
Webber was second for Red Bull, with Sebastién Buemi third for Toro Rosso. Lotus had a terrible day, cut short by a crash out on track for Jarno Trulli. In their post-test press release, the team revealed that it was a car failure and not driver error that had caused the accident, and a lack of spare parts meant they had to curtail their programme mid-morning.
Other teams having trouble included Jérôme D'Ambrosio who stopped out on track and was whisked away for a lengthy delay in the garage. Michael Schumacher and Pastor Maldonado both caused some stoppage time when their Mercedes and Williams cars stopped out on track.

Specifications And Features Of Tata Aria Crossover Car
The Aria's crossover figure is an effort to join the attributes of vehicle SUV and MUV into 1 package. The I.DE.A of Italy has done the styling with the help of inputs from Tata Motors internal design team. Following are some main reviews of the car:-
- There are various segments such as the cab-forward view of an MPV, the heavy wheels & muscular arches of a Sports Utility Vehicle & the face end which seems to Tata car with its grille like Indica & central bonnet crease.
- The vertical back tail-light load has shadows of the Indica & the tailgate, which lifts upright and adds to the luxury car-like feeling.
- The headlights which are cuted sharply with duo barrels look superb.
- The mass of the automobile has been efficiently disguised by the usage of blacked out rear pillar & a roof board that swoops into the pillar D.
- The Tata Aria X2 framework is Tata's 1st new ladder frame in twenty two years and is as up to date as they come.
The Aria's hydro formed framework, the 1st for an Indian auto is lighter & stronger than a normal frame.
- Tata Motors has tried to make Tata Aria lighter but at 2220 kg the Aria is still very heavy.
- The Aria finds new all-wheel-drive system from Divgi Warner that acts on demand such as in various soft-roaders & without doubt switches from 2 wheel drive to 4 wheels drive when it feels slippery conditions.

We cannot tell a lie: The six cars below are Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine’s top value picks this Presidents Day for $30,000-and-up vehicles.
“We feel these are the best cars for the money,” said Kiplinger’s Associate Editor Jessica Anderson, who analyzes more than 1,000 vehicles every year.
Kiplinger’s compiles its annual rankings by using a secret formula to compare a car’s price to its roominess, fuel efficiency, expected insurance premiums and other costs.
Saturday’s Herald looked at Kiplinger’s top picks for cars costing less than $30,000. Below are the magazine’s favorite $30,000-and-up models.
“Best in Class” vehicles represent Kiplinger’s No. 1 overall choice in each price range, while “Best New Car” ratings refer to the top-ranked new or redesigned 2011 in each category:
$30,000-$45,000 cars
Best in Class: Lincoln MKZ Hybrid Anderson said this diesel-power vehicle is literally Kiplinger’s favorite car of all time. She said the model combines roominess and high performance with a diesel engine that boosts fuel economy by nearly 30 percent. (Base price: $44,825)
Best New Car: Lincoln MKZ Hybrid. This luxury ride gets the nod partly because it costs the same as a gas-powered MKZ at a time when most automakers charge some $5,000 extra for hybrid versions of cars. “You don’t have to make a choice between being green and saving money,” Anderson said. (Base price: $35,180)
$45,000-and up rides
Best in Class: Mercedes-Benz E350 Blue-TEC. The Mercedes E-Class already took Kiplinger’s “Best New Car” award when it premiered last year, but the new diesel version rates a “Best in Class” honor for 2011. Anderson said the model’s clean-diesel engine gets a category-leading 33 mpg/highway even though it puts out 210 horsepower. (Base price: $51,775)
Best New Car: Infiniti M56 four-door. This model offers good resale value, relatively low maintenance and insurance costs — and a beefy 420-horsepower engine that nonetheless gets 25 mpg/highway. (Base price: $58,775)
Sports cars
Best in Class: Porsche Boxster Spyder manual. The spartan 300-horsepower Boxster Spyder offers “power and performance without paying for the extra bells and whistles,” Anderson said. (Base price: $62,150)
Best New Car: Ford Mustang GT manual. Anderson said the redesigned Mustang GT boasts high resale value, good fuel efficiency, relatively low maintenance and insurance costs and a “killer” 412-horsepower engine. (Base price: $30,495)

General Motors recently said that it will bring more than 20 new and upgraded models to China in the next two years.
Dan Akerson, the US automaker's chairman, made the announcement during his first visit to China last week. He said the company will strengthen local product development, expand sharing of technology with local partners and take the lead in introducing new energy vehicles, including the Chevrolet Volt extended-range electric car.
GM now has 11 auto-related joint ventures with SAIC Motor Corp and FAW Group. It sold 2.35 million vehicles in China, up 29 percent over 2009.

Japanese car maker Honda is recalling about 1200 vehicles in New Zealand because of defective parts that could stall engines.
The company says owners of the 1.5-litre Jazz Sport and City 2009-2010 models have been notified of the recall.
Honda New Zealand says there is a potential fault with small springs in the engine valve control gear.
It says if a fault does occur an abnormal noise will be generated or, in extreme cases, there may be damage causing the engine to stall and not restart.
Honda New Zealand head of marketing Graeme Meyer says for most people with these models, nothing will go wrong.
Mr Meyer says it is possible the car could stall at speed - but that would be under exceptional circumstances and only one minor incident has been reported in New Zealand.
Nearly 700,000 vehicles have been recalled worldwide.
In December, Honda recalled more than 1 million Fit models to repair a headlight fault.

The Audi A6 is an executive car produced by the German automaker Audi AG at their factory in Neckarsulm, Germany. It is available in both saloon, and Avant (Audi's term for an estate) body styles.
All generations of the A6 have been available as either front-wheel drive, or with Audi's trademark Torsen-based quattro permanent four-wheel drive (4WD) system, whilst the second and third generation A6 were also used as the basis for the "Audi allroad quattro" and "A6 allroad quattro" models respectively.
As of 2010 there have been three generations of the A6, although under Audi's platform numbering convention, it is treated as a continuation of the original Audi 100 lineage, with the first generation car using the C4 platform designation previously used for the final
The DEKRA experts award the title to the models with the lowest fault rate over a high mileage, thus rewarding high long-term quality. In preparing the 2011 Faults Report DEKRA will be using the new DEKRA defects index. This classification system incorporates the rating of “considerable defects” as an evaluation criterion in addition to “no relevant defects”. According to DEKRA, taking into account the share of considerable defects among all defects allows evaluations to be even more exact.
For the “DEKRA Faults Report 2011” experts looked only at models for which at least 1,000 units have been tested in the particular mileage class.
Audi is continuing the success story of the most reliable business sedan. The new A6 will be launched in early 2011. The new edition of the A6 is distinguished by top quality and innovative solutions in all technical areas.
